Job summary
We are delighted to be recruiting for a Specialist Oncology Pharmacist (fixed term) to work as part of our NHS Oncology Pharmacy team at The Royal Marsden. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced cancer pharmacist looking to provide a specialist service to a solid tumour unit and to gain experience working in a world-leading cancer centre. You will work closely with medical and nursing teams as well as the wider MDT. You will provide operational support to the Medical Day Unit in Chelsea and have the opportunity to develop your research, education, and management skills.
This role is key to delivering a high-quality specialist clinical pharmacy service which encompasses the medical day unit and outpatient clinics, as well as out-of-hospital SACT delivery and administration. This post will be supporting the multidisciplinary team through regular attendance of outpatient clinics, working with key stakeholders within pharmacy, nursing and medicine to promote timely delivery of SACT and to continually improve outcomes for our patients.

Main duties of the job
o Provide the clinical leadership of the pharmacy provision to NHS patients undergoing systemic anticancer therapy (SACT) at The Royal Marsden.o To work as an integral member of the oncology pharmacy team jointly providing an expert pharmacy service to oncology patients, the multidisciplinary team and provide highly specialist support to the wider pharmacy team in this area.o To lead on pharmaceutical issues relating to a specific oncology clinical unit, ensuring adherence to national guidelines and medicines legislation.o To provide education and training within the pharmacy department and the wider Trust.o To provide a framework for the safe, efficient and cost-effective use of drug resources within the specific oncology unit by the provision of procedures, protocols and drug usage information.o To provide a pharmacy clinical service to patients receiving SACT on the NHS day units, inpatient wards and outpatient clinics, as well as care closer to home services.

To ensure appropriate provision of medication information to patients regarding SACT within the Day Unit, inpatient, and outpatient setting.
Support the specialist pharmacist service provided to a cancer unit and multi-professional team, providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care through ward and clinic-based pharmacy service, and attendance at appropriate ward rounds, clinics, and meetings.
