Practice Educator- Olayan Day Unit Sutton/Kingston FT 6 monthsAre you looking to further your educational skills and career in Oncology care? We are looking for a proactive, motivated and a dynamic practitioner with the ability to enhance learning and development and support the nursing teams in the clinical area.
The Olayan Day Unit is a modern and busy unit caring for patients undergoing a variety of chemotherapy and supportive treatments including patients taking part in clinical trials. The Practice Educator role is essential in helping nurses develop the knowledge and skills required for the safe and effective delivery of Systemic Anti- Cancer Treatment. The role also includes teaching in the Royal Marsden School on various modules, venepuncture and cannulation training as well and involvement in the development of policy and procedure to improve care provision.
We are looking for significant experience in Chemotherapy administration venous access and/ or Oncology nursing and a commitment to providing high quality specialist care. You will have experience in practice education at least at Senior Staff Nurse level and highly effective communication skills.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for delivering a high-quality evidence based education to nurses within the MDU and across the Trust. This will include supporting the education and training of nursing staff in IV drug / SACT administration; venepuncture and cannulation; and the care and maintenance of all types of vascular access devices.
The post holder will also be responsible for promoting high standards of care through the demonstration of clinical expertise and the creation of a clinical environment that encourages learning and professional development. The post holder will also work closely with the MDU Sister / Charge Nurse to foster a supportive working environment and maintain staff morale.
