Job summary
This is an exciting post in the Department of Haemato-Oncology at Royal Marsden Hospital as a Registrar in Cellular Therapies and Haematopoetic Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT). This post would be suitable for a haematology trainee with an interest in Cell Therapies and HSCT.This post is for 12 months and is a 1.0 WTE post with time split equally between Cell Therapy and HSCT. In addition, this will require the post holder to work in both RMH Sutton and RMH Chelsea. It is expected that the post holder will contribute to the on-call out of hours service.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be involved in the care of patients undergoing treatment with CAR-T Cells for B-NHL, B-ALL and Myeloma and other cellular therapies being delivered as part of clinical trials. They will gain experience in patient selection and assessment, bridging therapy, lymphodepletion and infusion and management of acute and long term complications of CAR-T cell therapy. In addition the post holder will be involved in care of patients pre and post allogeneic and autologous HSCT and will gain experience in pre transplant assessment and work up and conditioning regimens, management of infectious complications, Graft versus host disease and late effects of transplant.The post holder will be working alongside a HSCT coordinator (medical) and Cell Therapy fellow. In addition, they will work closely with nursing coordinators and specialist nurses and the Cell Therapy/HSCT consultant team.There is a well-established JACIE accredited haematopoietic stem cell transplant and cell therapy programme. We have a team of 2 Cell Therapy Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS), 4 pre-transplant CNS' and 2 post-transplant CNS'. In addition to adult Cell Therapy and HSCT patients we also care for the teenage and young adult population (ages 18-25 years).There is an active, innovative, Palliative Care and Symptom Control Service led by a dedicated Consultant in Palliative Care, providing twenty-four-hour advice and care and linking with a local Hospice.Working for your
