Job summary

Band 5 Therapeutic Radiographer- Sutton site.Would you like the opportunity to work in the largest cancer centre in Europe with an international reputation for high quality patient care, research and education? In addition to 6 Elekta linear accelerators, the Sutton dept has an Elekta MR linear accelerator, Cyberknife unit, Gulmay superficial unit and a Radixact unit with another Radixact currently being installed. The department has a Siemens Confidence CT scanner and utilises multi- modality imaging for planning. The Royal Marsden Hospital is the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Europe. Main duties of the job

1.1. The post-holder will be responsible for carrying out Radiotherapy processes at a specialist highly complex radiotherapy work base, which may be a treatment unit, a brachytherapy unit, a CT scanner, a VS area or a treatment preparation area as prescribed, carefully and accurately and will participate as appropriate with clinical research activity in the department.1.2. The post-holder will liaise with medical, physics, nursing, clerical and support staff within the department and throughout the institution. The key working relationships will be with the Senior radiographers.

  • HCPC registration as a therapeutic radiographer (requires BSc (Hons) in Radiotherapy or equivalent accredited programme

Experience

Essential

  • Experience (including as a student) of sophisticated RT equipment treating advanced techniques in a complex department, including understanding of IGRV, IMRT and imaging technologies

Desirable

  • Have experience (including as a student) in paper light/paper free radiotherapy processes
  • Have participated in research/audit/service evaluation.

Skills

Essential

  • Be an effective communicator using both written and spoken English; as will be required to manage sensitive information in situations that will require diplomacy and empathy
  • Display strong organisational and time management skills, and ability to prioritise tasks
  • Computer literate with associated keyboard skills
  • Commitment to personal and professional development

Circumstances

  • Able to work non-standard hours between the hours of 08:00 and 20:00 to meet the exigencies of the service and will be expected to participate in the non-residential radiotherapy weekend on call service and the weekend day or bank holiday service that runs up to 8 times a year to cover gaps in treatment
