Job summary
A full-time, fixed term sub-specialty fellow in interventional radiology is required, with a special interest in interventional oncology. The locum post is to last 12 months and is to commence 1st Aug 2025 . The purpose is to occupy a vacant, part deanery funded sub-specialty training post in interventional oncology. The post holder will require experience in general interventional procedures, including percutaneous drainages and peripheral/ deep visceral biopsy under ultrasound and CT guidance. Some experience of vascular interventional radiology will be advantageous. The post holder will participate in one or two diagnostic sessions a week as well as a general diagnostics on-call rota and will therefore require experience in reporting CT and MRI and in performing general ultrasound.
The post is an opportunity to work in a specialist oncological centre and develop a special interest through participation in oncological procedures and some MDT work. The Royal Marsden Hospital has 3 sites . The post holder will mainly be based in Chelsea, with occasional diagnostic sessions in Surrey.
Applicants should have extensive experience, or hold a CCT (or international equivalent) in Radiology. FRCR (or international equivalent) and full registration with the GMC are essential. Main duties of the job
The specialist registrar will have a major involvement in the whole range of Interventional Radiology procedures including chemo-embolisations, RFA/microwave ablations of liver, lung and kidney tumours, biliary and urological interventions, SIRT for liver tumours, fiducial markers placement for Cyberknife, SVC stenting, gastrostomies /gastrojejunostomies insertion, and a variety of biopsies and drainages. An ability to perform drainage and biopsies to an independent level would be an advantage. The appointee will also be expected to have limited involvement in the general work of the Department (one or two sessions a week), including CT/MRI, plain film reporting and general radiological procedures. The appointee will participate in the general diagnostic radiology first on-call rota.
