Job summary

  • The post holder will be responsible for delivering a high-quality evidence based education to staff within Private Care areas as inpatient wards and day areas. This will include supporting the education and training of nurses to become clinically competent in the care of cancer patients, facilitate the induction, clinical mandatory updates, and continuing professional development for all levels of nursing.

  • The post holder will also be responsible for promoting high standards of care through the demonstration of clinical expertise and the creation of a clinical environment that encourages learning and professional development. The post holder will also work closely with the Charge Nurse of the departments to foster a supportive working environment and maintain staff morale.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will work closely with the Trust Lead Nurse for Clinical Education and support the training at Trust level for all staff working across Trust.

  • In addition, the post holder will support the Ward Sisters / Charge Nurses and the Medical Devices Coordinator with the Monitoring and review of staff compliance with medical devices and mandatory training.

Essential

  • NMC Registration
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent
  • Oncology Qualification (Level 6 or above)

Desirable

  • Masters (level 7) Qualification or working towards teaching in clinical practice qualification (PG Cert, Practice Teacher Qualification etc)

Experience

Essential

  • 3 years post registration nursing experience in Adult oncology or speciality to be confident and competent in using the required skills to do the job
  • Experience in pre-registration qualification. I.e. Mentorship, Practice Assessor
  • SACT competent
  • Competent in Medicine Management (Oral/IV)
  • Competent in Venepuncture, Cannulation and SACT Assessor
  • Competent in IV Assessor

Desirable

  • Public Speaking/classroom Lectures High Fidelity Simulation
  • Competent on Altered Airway management

Skills Abilities/knowledge

  • Evidence of effective interpersonal skills with particular ability to liaise with multidisciplinary team members
  • Can present information in a meeting
