Job summary

Exciting opportunities are available for experienced, caring, and highly motivated Therapeutic Radiographers to work as Band 7 Team Leaders in Radiotherapy at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton. We are looking for a practitioners with an excellent technical background, an awareness of advanced imaging techniques, and the ability to manage a complex treatment unit. The ideal candidates will enjoy working as part of a team, whilst providing strong leadership, and will have proven exemplary communication and patient care skills. In addition, these roles require someone with the confidence to lead the delivery of advanced radiotherapy techniques such as SABR, IMRT, VMAT and breath-hold (VIBH & ABC) as well as experience of IGRT using both EPI and CBCT in a quality driven environment.

In addition to 7 Elekta linear accelerators, the dept has an Elekta MR linear accelerator, Cyberknife unit and Gulmay superficial unit.

Main duties of the job

  • When they are working as a Senior I clinical practitioner they will be responsible for the radiotherapy processes at and the operational management of a specialist highly complex radiotherapy work base, which may be a treatment unit, a CT scanner, or a treatment preparation area. They will supervise the immediate radiographic team including students, aides and visitors on a rotational basis, ensuring that the practise of all results in the radiotherapy processes at their work base being performed accurately as prescribed.
  • The post-holder will liaise with medical, physics, nursing, clerical and support staff within the department and throughout the institution. The key working relationships will be with superintendent radiographers.
