Band 5 Therapy Radiographer- Chelsea

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust has an international reputation for high quality patient care, education and research. The partnership with the Institute of Cancer Research has created the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Europe. The Chelsea Radiotherapy department has four Varian Truebeams , Cyberknife and a Brachytherapy Suite. The department has a Siemens Confidence CT scanner and utilise multi- modality imaging for planning

This is a fantastic opportunity for band 5 radiographers who want to further consolidate their knowledge and gain extensive treatment experience. The ideal candidates will enjoy working as a part of a dynamic team delivering technically advanced treatments and excellent patient care. This post is available at the Chelsea site in London.

These roles will provide the opportunity to work at the cutting edge of radiotherapy development, in a pioneering and technically advanced department, working with compassionate and dedicated radiographers who are committed to delivering high quality patient care in everything they do. The successful candidates will be given the training and support to be confident delivering advanced radiotherapy techniques such as IMRT, VMAT, VIBH and IGRT.

Main duties of the job

  • The post-holder will be responsible for carrying out Radiotherapy processes at a specialist highly complex radiotherapy work base, which may be a treatment unit, a brachytherapy unit, a CT scanner, a VS area or a treatment preparation area as prescribed, carefully and accurately and will participate as appropriate with clinical research projects in the department.
  • The post-holder will liaise with medical, physics, nursing, clerical and support staff within the department and throughout the institution. The key working relationships will be with the Senior I radiographers.

  • Experience (including as a student) of sophisticated RT equipment treating advanced techniques in a complex department, including understanding of IGRV, IMRT and imaging technologies

Special aptitudes and disposition

Essential

  • Be an effective communicator across the multi-disciplinary team using both written and spoken English; including being able to manage sensitive information and to deal with anxious and demanding individuals using diplomacy and persuasion.
  • Computer literacy

  • Display strong organisational and time management skills, and ability to prioritise tasks.
