Job summary

Are you an experience nurse with management experience, who would like to progress in your career? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Sister/ Charge Nurse to join our friendly and energetic team on Ellis Ward. Ellis ward is a 14 bed adult female surgical ward, predominantly caring for patients undergoing treatment for breast and gynaecological cancers as well as other specialities including gastrointestinal and urological. We also care for patients having chemotherapy, radiotherapy and patients requiring symptom control as part of their treatment. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and clinical skills and enjoy working as part of a team.

As a Sister/Charge Nurse, you will be responsible for the care, delivery and nursing management of the ward, including the supervision of staff. You will be supporting an experienced nursing team to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate high standards of specialist care to ensure that patients are cared for in a safe, caring and comfortable environment. This will include meeting their holistic needs by effectively communicating with the wider multi-disciplinary team, patients and their families.

If you are a senior registered nurse with oncology and management background and have a passion for exceptionally high standards of patient care this could be the role for you.

Main duties of the job

To create and maintain a safe, therapeutic clinical environment for all patients and their families who come to Ellis Ward.

To co-ordinate all functions and activities proactively within Ellis Ward, working closely with Matron and other Sisters

To manage resources of clinical area within budgetary limitations e.g. Finance, equipment and staff (including temporary staff)

To provide strong clinical leadership to the nursing and health care support workers that is motivating, supportive and sets clear boundaries resulting in a high quality safe patient care.

Working closely with School of Nursing and Practice Educators team to support a clinical learning environment that enables nursing staff to develop professionally and promotes the use of evidence in practice.
