Job summary

As Chief Nursing Information Officer you will be a credible nursing leader who will be patient centred to provide strategic leadership for the implementation of the digital strategy through collaborative working and structured engagement with nursing and clinical staff, ensuring clinical delivery optimises the use of digital technology.

The successful candidate will be passionate about the use of technology in clinical practice and be an advocate for the digital approach of the organisation. You will also have excellent leadership skills and have significant experience of oncology nursing workflows and processes. You will be responsible for working with senior Trust clinical and operational staff to deliver changes to working practices which will improve efficiency, patient flow and/or patient experience and much of this work requires close collaborative and co-ordinated working with colleagues across the Trust, including the EPR team, and with our partners at GOSH and with our EPR supplier Epic.

Main duties of the job

The Chief Nursing Information Officer (CNIO) is a key leadership role central to the success of the Trust's Digital, Data & Connect Strategy.

The CNIO is a translator and a main point of liaison for nursing, and allied health professionals, sharing the strategic vision for how technology will enhance practices, clinical quality and patient safety.

As a transformational leader with exemplary clinical credibility, the CNIO will provide expert clinical advice and guidance to support the Trust's developments in the field of informatics and technology.

The post is accountable to the Chief Operational Information Officer (COIO) to ensure the delivery and success of the Digital Strategy, but has a direct relationship and professional accountability to the Chief Nurse in supporting the delivery of the clinical strategy, and ensuring professional clinical leadership. The CNIO also works collaboratively with the Trust's Chief Clinical Information Officers (CCIO), Chief Information Officer (CIO), Chief Research Information Officer (CRIO) and Director of Performance & Information to ensure patient and clinical involvement in the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of systems and services. The CNIO manages a team of Nursing/ AHP Information Officers.
