Applications are invited for the post of Locum Consultant Medical Oncologist - Acute Oncology & GI

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to play a pivotal role in the Acute Oncology Service at Epsom and St Helier and the GI Service at the Royal Marsden for all patients providing:

  • Management of acutely unwell medical patients
  • Management of patients in the Clinical Assessment Unit
  • Leadership on the co-ordination and integration of patient care with surrounding Trusts who may be caring for our patients on both an emergency and elective basis
  • Telephone support to the Royal Marsden Macmillan Hotline
  • Development for the way the Trust provides inpatient management for long stay medical patients
  • A key role in junior doctor educational development and leadership

Office space and secretarial support will be provided at the Fulham branch of the Royal Marsden. Junior doctors (HEE trainees and clinical fellows) also support the clinical and research activities of the GI team.

Tumour specific commitments will be conducted in the GI unit. The post-holder would lead the Upper GI service for the West Middlesex referral network comprising one MDT per week, 1 SACT clinic, 1 follow-up/new patient clinic and regular board and ward rounds each week
