Job summary

We are currently in the process of transitioning from our "go-live" and "stabilisation" phases into optimisation, delivering further improvements to our Digital Health Record that make a difference to patients & staff. As Chief Nursing Information Officer you will be a credible nursing leader who will be patient centred to provide strategic leadership for the implementation of the digital strategy through collaborative working and structured engagement with nursing and clinical staff, ensuring clinical delivery optimises the use of digital technology.

The successful candidate will be passionate about the use of technology in clinical practice and be an advocate for the digital approach of the organisation. You will also have excellent leadership skills and have significant experience of oncology nursing workflows and processes. You will be responsible for working with senior Trust clinical and operational staff to deliver changes to working practices which will improve efficiency, patient flow and/or patient experience and much of this work requires close collaborative and co-ordinated working with colleagues across the Trust, including the EPR team, and with our partners at GOSH and with our EPR supplier Epic.

Main duties of the job

The Chief Nursing Information Officer (CNIO) is a credible nursing leader who will be patient centred to provide strategic leadership for the implementation of the digital strategy through collaborative working and structured engagement with nursing and clinical staff.

This role provides a bridge between the clinical and digital strategies to ensure clinical delivery optimises the use of digital technology.

Operationally accountable to the Chief Operational Information Officer (COIO) to ensure the delivery and success of the Digital Strategy, but has a direct relationship and professional accountability to the Chief Nurse in supporting the delivery of the clinical strategy, and ensuring professional clinical leadership.

The CNIO will be passionate about the use of technology in clinical practice and an advocate for the digital approach by the organisation.

The CNIO will ensure optimisation of care delivery models and achieve the successful deployment and benefits realisation of a digital transformation approach across the trust to improve enhance patient outcomes.

  • Nursing professional qualification
  • Advanced clinical qualifications and evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Post registration qualification in Informatics/Information Management/Digital Leadership or equivalent experience in Digital Nursing Leadership
  • Maintained relevant CPD activity of 35 hours in past 3 years.
  • Registered Nurse on the NMC register who can demonstrate 450 hours of related practice in the last 3 years

  • Significant experience and understanding of the value that digital technology and information brings to improving quality of care outcomes and efficiency
