Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced physiotherapist to join the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic physiotherapist with oncology experience and an interest in haematology. The post holder will see patients with haematological cancers mainly inpatients, but also some clinics and outpatients, and oversee the teenage and young adult unit which is supported by band 6 physiotherapist. The post holder manages band 6 and 5 physiotherapists and co-ordinates the inpatient service on Sutton site. You will be supported by senior colleagues, with regular supervision and in-service training.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate the physiotherapy service for the Haematology service and has oversight of the inpatient service at . This covers 28 beds on 2 wards, the Ambulatory chemotherapy day unit and outpatients as appropriate. The post holder also line manages a band 6 physiotherapist on the Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) unit and provides leadership oversight.
The post holder will plan, deliver and evaluate the physiotherapy service to the Haematology patients. This will include close liaison with the multi-professional haematology team, provision of exercise programs ,pre and post stem cell transplant care and treatment for problems arising following the side effects of cancer and it's treatment. All care will be provided following due consideration to the specific challenges this patient group presents
