An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Advanced Pharmacist - Paediatric Oncology to join the Pharmacy team at UHSussex. This is a new role developed to strengthen paediatric oncology pharmacy services across the Trust.
This senior clinical leadership post provides expert pharmacy input for children and young people with cancer and haematological malignancies, including those receiving systemic anti-cancer therapies, immunotherapies, cellular therapies and supportive care. The post holder will lead pharmaceutical care for paediatric oncology patients across inpatient, day case and outpatient settings, supporting complex treatment pathways and clinical trials activity where applicable.
The role provides cross-site clinical leadership working collaboratively across the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Worthing Hospital and St Richard's Hospital, ensuring equitable, safe and high-quality oncology pharmacy services. The post holder will work as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team across wards, clinics and homecare services.

Main duties of the job
Lead, develop and deliver the paediatric oncology clinical pharmacy service across University Hospitals Sussex, providing advanced pharmaceutical care to children and young people receiving systemic anti-cancer therapies and supportive treatments across inpatient, day-case and outpatient settings.
Provide expert clinical leadership for medicines optimisation, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy and supportive care. Ensure safe prescribing, verification, dispensing, administration and monitoring of treatment within the multidisciplinary team.
Act as the Trust specialist pharmacist for paediatric oncology, supporting complex clinical decision-making, treatment planning and toxicity management. Contribute to ward rounds, MDT meetings and patient reviews, and provide specialist medicines information to staff and families.
Lead chemotherapy governance and safety systems, including protocol implementation, prescribing assurance, incident review, audit and quality improvement, working closely with aseptic services.
Provide cross-site leadership across RSCH, Worthing and St Richard's Hospitals, supporting service development, workforce training, high-cost drug management and shared care partnerships, while deputising for the Lead Pharmacist for Children & Women's Services
