Job summary
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic resident doctor with aspirations to follow a career in dermatology, to work in our dermatology department at Brighton General Hospital and The Royal Sussex County Hospital.
The role will be focussed on research and working on studies within the department including NIHR portfolio, non-commercial and commercial trials in both outpatient and the Clinical Investigation Research Unit (CIRU) settings. The post will also include valuable experience in inflammatory clinics such as the regional hair clinic, psoriasis clinic and daycase surgery to enable the successful candidate to gain a wide experience in dermatology. Previous dermatology experience is not essential but applicants will need to demonstrate an enthusiasm and commitment to the speciality.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering to the dermatology research portfolio of studies. This includes commercial CTIMPs and non commercial CTIMPs and registry studies. The more complex studies run out of the Clinical Investigations Research Unit at the Royal Sussex County Hospital Brighton, all other studies run from Brighton General Hospital Brighton. It is expected that the candidate will attend clinics where patients may be recruited from. At present this includes the tertiary referral adult and paediatric hair clinics, daycase surgery, psoriasis and general dermatology inflammatory clinics and dermatology ward rounds. Experience in these areas will be invaluable for any candidate wishing to pursue a career in dermatology. Additionally there are opportunities candidate wishing to pursue a career in dermatology. Additionally there are opportunities to teach medical students. The successfull candidate will be encouraged and supported to present at grand rounds and at regional and national dermatology meetings and conferences. These opportunities will be helpful to support any application for specialist training.
