Job summary

The Retail Food Service Assistant willbe responsible forthe provision of an efficient,safeand hygienic food service from Retail Catering Outletsoperatingwithin established food hygiene, safety practices,methodsand procedures. This will include food preparation, cooking and serving of meals and dishes from the Restaurant counter to customers, using EPOS till system and following cashing up procedure

The post holder willbe responsible forthe safe and hygienic cleaning of front and back of house areas and all associated equipment.

The Retail Food Service Assistant must be receptive to individual customers service needs andassistthem with using drinks machines and helping them get seated if needed.

The role will also include undertaking duties to provide a porter and cleaning service to the Retail department and to assistin the transportation of food stored in a chilled or frozen working and storage environment in the catering department to the Restaurant

Togenerally assistwhenrequiredwith other comparable tasks including Stock take, Saffron and the general stores as directed by their Assistant Duty Manager/Duty Manager

The post holder will need to be fully aware of the Trust's Values and Behaviours and Patient First initiatives and act accordingly.

Main duties of the job

To providea high levelof customer service to patients,staffand visitors

To cleanallocatedpieces of heavy catering equipment using instructions and cleaning materials

To dispose of waste materials from catering areas todesignatedcollection points.

Tooperateindustrial dishwashers in all catering areas.

To operatemechanical floor scrubbing and steam cleaning equipment.

To transport provisions, equipment and other catering related items asrequired.

Assistingwith the receipt of deliveries, checking quantity and quality of goods; ensuring that due diligence is followed by checking and recording delivery temperatures asappropriateand compliance with the Trusts policies and procedures asrequired.

Reporting of variances in deliveries both internally and to the supplier arranging replacement deliveries or credit notes asappropriate.

Keepingaccuraterecords of stock and inventory movement both inwards and outwards from display to storage at the end of the day.

Ensure all stock is rotated and stored correctly reducing wastage and ensuring compliance with necessary legislation asrequired.

To undertake occasional duties outside the normal routine but within the scope of the position and the departments activities.

Toassist, asrequired, at special functions, some of which may occur outside normal working hours, for which you will be paid overtime.

To report any complaint or compliment andtake actionif at all possible.
