Job summary
An opportunity has become available for a full time, 37.5 hour per week, Band 5 nurse to join our small but motivated & creative teamworking in a friendly and supportive environment in The Outpatient Department at Hove Poly Clinic.It is a satellite unit, currently open from Monday to Friday and the working pattern usually consists of 3 shifts from 0800 - 1800 and one shift from 0800 - 1730 hrs. The days of work are dependent on the needs of the department and how many clinics are operational on each day.
The department runs clinics covering many different specialities, offering care to patients from a wide-ranging demographic, many with complex health needs which provides a variety of activities and job satisfaction. Clinics range from medical and surgical cardiology, ophthalmology, respiratory, neurology, digestive diseasesand care of the elderly. Therefore, experience in outpatients and the specialities is helpful but training can be provided for any areasrequiredfor the successful applicant.
Main duties of the job
You will be expected to work within clinics providing care for patients.This may include clinical measurements, phlebotomy, undertaking ECG's and OCT ophthalmology scans.Training can be provided for the successful candidateinany of these areas ifrequired.
You will be expected to assist in the supervision, assessment and ongoing education of junior staff and student nurses. You will have the opportunity to work with a practice educator to help facilitate your own professional development and gain the necessary competencies required in the various clinics.
You will need to be a team player with a proven ability in delivering high quality care as well as strong clinical skills. On occasion, you will be requiredto deputise for senior staff andbe responsible for the day to day running of the Department.
The need to be able to undertake audits and assist in implementing any changes arising from these audits will also be a necessary part of the role.
