Trainee Sonographer

Job summary

To undertake a post graduate qualification in medical ultrasound over a 2-year period becoming a competent Ultra sonographer.

In the first year become competent in: Physics of Ultrasound, Obstetrics & Gynaecology Ultrasound.

In the second year become competent in: Abdominal & Vascular Ultrasound.

To work in all areas of the Trusts Ultrasound Departments as required to attend a post graduate ultrasound course at an appropriately recognised university.

Main duties of the job

Once qualified to work as an independent practitioner performing ultrasound scans to a high standard and issuing independent and accurate clinical reports to referring Clinicians.

Maintain the highest quality of patient care in accordance with Trust values.

To participate in providing the day-to-day delivery of an effective high quality and efficient ultrasound service as provided to the Trust by the Radiology Department.

To participate in the training of ultrasound to other staff and to support in governance, audit and research.
