Job summary
We wish to appoint a Specialty Doctor in Respiratory Medicine to a new post. The post-holder will work primarily with the Respiratory team at St Richard's Hospital.
The post-holder will be required to undertake routine work on the respiratory ward supporting junior staff under the supervision of the Consultant respiratory physicians.
In addition, there will be regular out-patient clinics to help support increasing demand. These are specialty respiratory clinics that will be supervised by a Respiratory Consultant with a mixture of new and follow-up patients and will allow the post holder to further develop their speciality skills.
Furthermore, there are 1-2 pleural lists per week which the post holder will be supervised in.
The post would suit a junior doctor who would like to either maintain or develop a degree of sub specialisation and would a great opportunity to gain additional experience before applying for a higher specialty training post. The post will be employed on the Specialty Doctor terms and conditions. In addition to the ward based work the post-holder will be responsible for planning and interpretation of investigations, dealing with results and the administration generated by the clinic.
We are an approachable team and would see this as a good opportunity for clinical development. We would continue to support educational development and provide educational supervision.
Main duties of the job
The clinical duties of the post include the following:
- Providing Middle grade support and agreed outlier areas
- Attend Pleural lists.
- Attending outpatient clinics
- Planning and interpretation of investigations
- Dealing with administration
- Seeing and discussing ward referrals
This is a role that will allow the post holder to develop further clinical skills, gain further experience in team leadership and communication and provide a focus to improve patient care and continuity.
On Call Commitment: To be discussed participation in Registrar full shift rota pattern (up to 50% on call commitment)
