Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic , motivated and experience Pharmacy Technician to assist the Technician Team Lead, Clinical Services in all aspects of the provision of a technician and assistant clinical pharmacy service in the Trust. Carry out the line management of pharmacy technicians and assistants in the clinical pharmacy team, workforce planning, supervision and training for the medicines management accreditation and delivery of medicines reconciliation systems within University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will work with the Medicine Safety & Governance team in monitoring, auditing, and supporting safe medication practice and the safe & secure handling of medicines.
They will assist in the safe management of controlled drugs ensuring compliance with legislation. This will involve monitoring the security and use of controlled drugs, audit of practice, training and guideline/policy development. Support investigation and review of medication incidents, including unaccounted for drug losses of controlled drugs.
They will work closely with multi-disciplinary colleagues to ensure the provision of an integrated and efficient service and lead on the continuous improvement of this service for patient safety.
Main duties of the job
You will:
- Manage a high quality, safe and effective clinical pharmacy service, actively participating in the delivery of services to all areas of the department.
- Work with the Medicine Safety & Governance team in monitoring, auditing, and supporting safe medication practice and the safe & secure handling of medicines.
- Co-ordinate and support the training and development of trainee pharmacists and pre-registration pharmacy technicians.
- Provide leadership and management of staff, processes, procedures and workload/workforce planning and development of the clinical services.
- Continuously contribute to service improvements
