Cancer Services at Worthing Hospital are proud to offer an exciting opportunity for Band 5 staff nurses to apply for our Part time position in Sussex Cancer Centre . This position is an option for both newly qualified nurses and experienced nurses who wish to gain knowledge, understanding and progress within the specialised field of Oncology nursing in a large tertiary centre. This position will consist of working on the haematology ward at Worthing hospital.

In this position, you will have a supernumerary period to orientate you to the location and a personal development plan, mentor and practice educators to help support and guide you. We will assist you in the completion of the UKONS Systemic Anti-Cancer Passport and mentorship course.

You will spend time with other cancer specialist services include Clinical Nurse Specialists, ANPs and the haematology Team.

The staff nurse is a member of the multi-disciplinary team providing skilled care and advice to cancer patients and their families/partners/friends in the in-patient setting

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 5 nurse who strives for high standards of patient care to join our team of highly professional cancer nurses.

The ward consists of 20 beds for haematology patients.

You will need to have:

  • Nursing registration with the NMC.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A strong interest in Cancer and Haematology speciality
  • Acute hospital experience in the UK is essential.
