Job summary
If you have good organisational skills and have high attention to detail, an opportunity has arisen for a clerical assistant position within the General Surgery department at Worthing hospital.
This varied role provides support to the administrative team, and consultant surgeons and multidisciplinary clinical team across three specialities - Colorectal Surgery, General Surgery, and Upper GI Surgery.
We are looking for an individual who has the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, who ideally has previous office experience. Computer skills are essential.
Our ideal candidate will be flexible and adaptable and willing to work as part of our busy but supportive team

There is one part time post available (27.5 hours per week), and the successful candidate will work at Worthing Hospital
Main duties of the job
To provide general clerical support to the medical secretaries, enabling them to provide an efficient and effective administrative service to the General Surgery consultants and clinical teams
Your role will involve working for a busy team supporting the General Surgery / Upper GI service at Worthing hospital. If you enjoy being a team player this post offers variety and the opportunity to play a key role in supporting the team with the efficient running of the directorate
Specific duties include:
- Communicating effectively with colleagues
- To file, chase, retrieve and deliver medical notes, signed investigation reports and other documentation relating to patients
- To ensure all filing/scanning is carried out on a regular basis
- Maintain databases for patients pending investigations and chasing results, liaise with clinicians regarding outcomes and actions
- Proficient use of MS Office
- Manage and prioritise own workload
