Senior Clinical Fellow (ST4+ or equivalent) in Adult Intensive Care Medicine
Applications are invited for appointment to Senior Clinical Fellow in Intensive Care Medicine (ST4+ or equivalence) for a Fixed Term period fromAugust 2025 for 12 months.
The post is solely based at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton.
Main duties of the job
This is an excellent opportunity for those who are looking to increase their experience in a busy tertiary intensive care unit. The job would also be suitable for those working through the certificate of eligibility for specialist registration (CESR) route to certificate of completion of training in intensive care medicine. Additional time can be allocated to develop specialist interests to complement clinical work - this can be in education, research, governance and quality improvement.

To be able to demonstrate independent practice in:
o Advanced airway management including endotracheal intubation and management of tracheostomies
o Placement of invasive lines including CVP, arterial and renal replacement lines
o Placement of chest drains

- Basic medical degree
- Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
- Advanced Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent

- Additional post-graduate qualification in critical care including ECHO/USS qualifications
- Advanced Trauma Life Support, Advanced Paediatric Life Support or equivalent
- European diploma in intensive care medicine or FFICM
- Primary FRCA/MRCP/MRCEM

- At least 2 years' experience in critical care medicine as dedicate placements
- Working at a senior level compatible of ST4+
- Advanced airway skills - 6 months or more of dedicated anaesthetic placement
- Independent placement of invasive lines - CVP/arterial line/renal replacement lines

- Experience of neurosurgical intensive care
- Experience of cardiothoracic intensive care
- Additional experience in complementary specialities including emergency medicine, acute medicine, renal medicine, respiratory medicine, paediatric critical care
