Alcohol Misuse Specialist Nurse

Job summary
Identify patients with increasing risk drinking behaviour to reduce admissions or attendance to Accident and Emergency (A+E).
To attend A+E and Emergency Floor to give Alcohol Brief Intervention Advice (ABIA) to those present with alcohol related issues or attendances.
Identify those who are alcohol dependant and are seeking detoxification and rehab in a community setting and refer.
Identify those who have a medical need for detox and monitor and support on the wards with timely referral on to community support services.
Give support to friends and family of problem drinkers and signpost to services.
Liaise with appropriate services such as Mental Health and homelessness services.
Liaise with wards and provide teaching to staff regarding alcohol misuse and follow up patients admitted from the assessment areas.
Coordinate holistic packages of care through appropriate liaison with other members of the MDT.
We welcome applications from those who currently hold a UK NMC registration. If you currently hold an overseas nursing qualification and require sponsorship we are not currently direct hiring Internationally Qualified Nurses.
