Job summary
Working in partnership with the Clinical Director, Associate Director and Head of Operations for Imaging to enable the delivery of outstanding services in accordance with agreed objectives, targets (including waiting list DM01 and Cancer targets), quality standards, controls and resource constraints as set out in the business plans for the services delivered by the directorate. The post holder also has a key role to play in the development of the strategic vision for Imaging across the Trust.
Provide daily support and leadership for non-medical professional and clinical support staff across the Imaging directorate, ensuring patients and staff are safe, cared for and listened to.
Lead the strategic CDC transformation and modernisation of Imaging services across the Trust. In partnership with the Clinical Director, Associate Director and Head of Operations, drive forward innovative CDC models, digital transformation, pathway redesign and optimisation of Imaging services aligned to national programmes (such as Community Diagnostic Centres and GIRFT), improving quality, efficiency and patient experience. Ensure that non-medical professional and clinical support staff provide excellent quality care with exceptionally high safety standards and treat all patients with dignity and respect.
Main duties of the job
o Provide all necessary support to the overall leadership, direction and management of non-medical professional and clinical support staff within the directorate, working closely with other members of the Imaging and divisional leadership teams, the Director of AHPs and other clinical and operational teams.
o Contribute to the development and implementation of directorate business plans and service strategy, paying special attention to the clinical standards and service improvements that enhance patient care, within and outside the organisation. This may include complex insourced and/or outsourced service provision using activity data to plan required capacity. This will also involve input into the development of Trust and sector wide plans to create Community Diagnostic Centres as a national strategic response to anticipated growth across Imaging.
o Be familiar with Radiology Information Systems (RIS) to be able to extract, collate and interpret demand and capacity data across all areas of the directorate and be able to produce equipment modelling, CDC modelling, schedule templates and costing for imaging across all sites.
o Manage the delegated revenue budgets for the non-medical professional, nursing and clinical support CDC and ensure directorate fiscal responsibility.

Joint responsibility for the management of compliance with respect to CQC, QSI and (IR(ME)R) regulations.
Act as a positive role model through the provision of effective, authoritative and accessible professional leadership.
Lead the development and implementation of standards of care and the patient experience.
Monitor and review clinical and professional standards and in liaison with the Clinical Director for the directorate, monitor and manage service performance at all levels, implementing remedial action where necessary.
Manage and develop non-medical professional and clinical support staff within the directorate, developing strong leadership potential and succession planning including leading and supporting CDC re- design aligned to an annual CDC plan.
Where required represent the Trust within the NHS and community, and with other partner organisations, working closely with them to institute sector wide integrated working in the best interests of patient care.
Lead the design and implementation of new CDC models for Imaging, including advanced practice, assistant practitioner roles, apprenticeships, international recruitment, and flexible staffing solutions, ensuring sustainability of the CDC.
Develop and deliver an annual Imaging CDC transformation plan aligned to national and ICS CDC strategies.
Drive adoption of new roles and skill-mix to support transformation, embedding evidence-based CDC models (HEE and NHS England guidance).Act as a credible and dynamic leader in the delivery of the complex service/operational challenges and changes facing the clinical area.
Ensure that all touch points within the entire patient pathway understand the importance of their roles, and are able to deliver the best possible patient care, where best practice is shared and celebrated.
Maintain own personal and professional growth, keeping up to date with changes, new ways of working and future developments.
Undertake clinical work to maintain registration and support team as and when required. Shape Imaging transformation programmes across the Trust and system, including operationalisation of CDCs, expansion of community Imaging access, and digital diagnostic innovations (AI, RIS/PACS optimisation).
Use advanced data analysis of Imaging demand and capacity to inform strategic decisions, redesign pathways, improve productivity and reduce waiting times.
Collaborate across divisions to streamline Imaging services supporting elective recovery and improving access against DM01 and cancer targets.
To participate in the on call management rota for the Trust.
