Medication Safety Officer

Job summary

We are seeking to appoint a pharmacist or nurse to be the Medication Safety Officer for the Trust who will be an expert in medication safety and plan, manage and deliver medicines safety initiatives and improvements across the Trust centred around the patient. This will be a job-share with the current Medication Safety Officer Pharmacist.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide expert advice on medication safety to ensure that processes throughout the Trust are safe, effective and legal and are supported by up to date policies, procedures, protocols and training.

  • Application of systems thinking and thematic analysis to extract learning from medication incidents and develop corrective and preventative actions in line with PSIRF principles

  • To promote a culture of safety in relation to medicines

    and to ensure that medication safety is at the forefront of clinical practice

  • Support the Trust in its preparation for CQC inspections for matters pertaining to medicines safety
