Job summary
The Emergency Department are looking for a dynamic applicant to join our team as an Emergency Department Assistant.
We need an individual who can support the smooth running of the Emergency Department by ensuring we have a clean, clutter free environment with adequate equipment and resources to facilitate clinical staff to care for our patients.
The role will require the applicant to prioritise tasks based on patient need and be flexible in the role due to the unpredictable nature of emergency care.

Main duties of the job
This role is essential in collaborating with the senior nursing team to ensure our ED has an efficient working environment.
The successful applicant will work closely with the clinical team to ensure we have adequate stock to meet our patient demands.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with clinical staff to ensure adequate stock meets the patient demand.
- Monitor stock levels for ED essential equipment.
- Ensure that all equipment is in good working order and report to EBME any faulty equipment. This will include but is not limited to monitoring equipment, ultrasounds, bladder scanner and ECGs.
- Make sure all cannulation and catheter trolleys are topped up daily and ready for use.
- To be able to assist when called upon to move equipment around department based on patient need.
- Make sure all storage areas are cleaned, remain tidy and clutter free.
- Ensure equipment is stored and returned to appropriate location and not cluttering clinical areas.
- Collection, disposal and replenishment of linen bags.
- Preparing cubicle space for incoming patients.
- Topping up of cupboards when necessary to assist in the productivity of the area.
- Ensure adequate level of consumables readily available in clinical area (e.g. gloves, aprons, cleaning wipes).
- Carry out any other reasonable duties commensurate with the role and delegated or requested by the manager or supervisor, as the needs of the service require.
