Senior Sister/Charge Nurse - Critical Care

Job summary

An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced critical care nurse to join the Worthing critical care team. We are a friendly 12 bedded Critical Care unit caring for both level 3 ITU patients and level 2 HDU patients.

As a Critical Care Team Leader, you will provide professional leadership to the critical care team working in conjunction with the Matron and other Senior nurses to promote delivery of professional nursing care to acutely and critically ill patients ensuring the highest possible standards of care are received by patients and their carers while in critical care.

To provide clinical/professional leadership in the care of critically ill patients to a team of nurses and be responsible for ensuring that they have continuous professional development and education, working in conjunction with the Critical Care Matron and Practice Educator. To act as a resource for the Trust staff with regard to care of the critically ill.

To have management responsibility for the Critical Care department which involves the efficient and effective use of resources. To ensure the highest standard of nursing care is delivered to all critically ill patients with the promotion of evidence based practice.

Main duties of the job

  • To lead with the Critical Care Matron in setting standard and guidelines for best practice within Critical Care.
  • Act as an expert clinical practitioner and provide high quality nursing care at senior level
  • Identifies undertakes and evaluates innovation and developments of ideas within Critical Care.
  • Ensure the highest quality of nursing care is delivered to all critically ill patients with the promotion of evidence based practice
  • To support/motivate staff emotionally and physically through service redesign and Agenda For Change
  • Responsible for development and wellbeing plans of staff regular 1:1's and ensuring quality through STAM & appraisals monitoring
