Job summary
University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust has an exciting opportunity to recruit a Band 6 Static Respiratory Physiotherapist to join our operational Respiratory Physiotherapy Team at Worthing Hospital. to cover 12 months Maternity Leave. This role would suit a practitioner with highly developed leadership and people skills who are able to balance the day-to-day operational running and governance of a fast paced, multi-faceted team with a clear vision for the future development of the service and staff. Candidates should be skilled in the assessment and treatment of complex, acutely unwell patients as well as the long-term management of those with ongoing respiratory conditions. We are a research active therapies department with strong links to the Trust Research and Innovation Committee and local HEI's. We are continuing to develop local clinical research activity and will support staff to develop clinical academic careers.
Main duties of the job
To work as part of a team covering multiple acute wards, contributing to a range of respiratory services. To include rotations & experience working within acute admissions, ITU/HDU, surgery, acute respiratory ward & respiratory/ITU outpatient services.To use this role to develop professionally within the respiratory physiotherapy specialty and provide a high-quality experience to patients and team members. To remain competent for respiratory on-calls and to work as part of the respiratory on-call rota. To be prepared to participate in future 7-day service provision if applicable.

- To assist in providing a high standard respiratory physiotherapy service involving the assessment and treatment of patients who may have complex presentations.
- To develop clinical and managerial skills to a higher level, specific to respiratory physiotherapy.

- To assist in the supervision and development of junior or rotational physiotherapists in the clinical area with Band 7 assistance.

- To keep abreast of all new developments within the specialty which includes attending relevant study days and post graduate education.
