Allergy Clinical Nurse Specialist

Job summary
This is a specialist allergy nursing role in a small team providing the regional commissioned service. Any capable, Level one Registered Nurse would be able to perform this role as no specific experience of allergy desensitisation is required, as training will be provided. The role will provide nurse-led desensitisation, supervised biologic treatments for chronic spontaneous urticaria, provide and interpret allergy skin prick testing and assist with administrative elements of the service including high-cost drug administration, databasing, patient registries and drug ordering.
Main duties of the job
Communication
- Clinic huddles
- Report at quarterly minuted quality meeting
Service Delivery and Improvement
- Desensitisation clinics
- Biologic clinics
- Attend quarterly quality meeting
- Assist with various administrative functions (databasing, patient registries, high-cost drug management, homecare, drug ordering)
People Management and Development
- Work closely within the small specialist team
- Deliver training where needed to other teams
Patient Care Delivery
- Deliver desensitisation and omalizumab
- Patient education (adrenaline autoinjector, self-management plans, allergen avoidance)
