Clinical Fellow ST1-3 equivalent in Paediatrics

1 fixed term posts for 12 months to start as soon as possible

These roles will be located within the Children's Emergency Department or paediatric wards, including the Paediatric Critical Care Unit and Day Case Unit.

The Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital, known locally as the 'Alex', is developing as the children's hospital for the South East Coast region. Opened in 2007, it is a purpose-built facility designed by children, with children, for children and has won several major awards.

It brings together paediatric services at UHs and provides a first class environment to continue to develop a broad range of specialised services for children and young people alongside more general services for our local population.

Please join our exciting team by the coast to improve and move forward your paediatric career.

Main duties of the job

The clinical duties of the post include the day-to-day care of the patients who are seen in the Children's Emergency Department and inpatient medical wards, Critical Care Unit and Day Case Unit.

During the attachment at RACH, trainees gain experience in general paediatrics embracing paediatric medicine, paediatric surgery, ambulatory care and emergency paediatrics. The experience obtained is extensive and is enhanced by the fact that all consultants have special interests. The consultant of the week provides close supervision and teaching at the bedside, and leads daily ward rounds. There are opportunities to attend outpatient clinics in general paediatrics and paediatric surgery. There are also specialised clinics run by local paediatricians, and joint clinics with visiting consultants from teaching centres.

You will work a combination of day shifts, long days, night shifts and weekends as part of a European Working Time Directive compliant rota of approximately 13 full-time equivalent people.
