Introducing our new Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) and Acute Assessment Unit (AAU).
We are thrilled to announce the opening our new purpose builtSDECunit in April 2025, alongside the rebranding of our Emergency Floor as anAAU.
These units are designed to enhance patient care and streamline emergency services. Their function is to provide quick, efficient and effective care to patients in urgent need of medical attention.
Same Day Emergency Care:Our SDEC allows patients to be assessed, diagnosed and treated all within the same day, minimizing hospital admissions and ensuring fast, high quality care.
Acute Assessment Unit:currently known as the Emergency Floor, the AAU offers an immediate and thorough evaluation of acutely ill patients, allowing us to quickly identify needs and create an individual plan of care.

Main duties of the job
As a unit administrator/ward clerk, will be the first point of contact for patients attending our departments. You will provide an efficient andeffective administrative and reception service to the AAU and Same Day Emergency Care Area (SDEC), managing a regular intake of patients arriving into the department with a variety of medical and surgical issues. You will need to be able to balance tact and assertiveness, combined with the ability to work calmly and patiently within a team, in a sometimes stressful environment. Computer competence, strong customer care, communication and team working skills are all required. Experience in a clinical administration role is desirable.
Experience of working within the NHS is an advantage, including knowledge of PAS, however full training will be provided.
