Job summary
We are looking for an outstanding colleague wishing to actively support the Paediatric Radiology department based primarily at the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital within the University Hospitals Sussex University Hospitals Trust. The post holder will contribute to the expanding MSK, oncology and paediatric neuroradiology workload; there is an opportunity for the successful candidate to undertake adult general sessions each week if desired.
The new clinical operating model has yet to define a strategy for paediatric radiology. The new post holder will form part of the senior clinical team to contribute towards a mission statement for the service and develop a five-year plan for service development.
This will include investing in training, developing / establishing local services, building on established paediatric networks and reviewing paediatric radiology provision across the integrated care subsystem.
Main duties of the job
This is a 10 PA post for a Consultant Paediatric Radiologist. The new consultant will be expected to provide paediatric imaging services to the Trust at a tertiary level, which will include neuro. They will work and liaise with existing consultants to provide and develop further the imaging services. The successful candidate would need to cover all imaging modalities. The appointment is to cope with the increase in workload generally within the local health economy and to support the paediatric on-call service. The post holder will be integrated into the clinical activities of the general and the paediatric imaging department with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care in addition to contributing to all service developments, teaching and research. The post holder will have a flexible attitude to working within their job plan.The post will include mixed sessional time for general Xray reporting, CT and MRI reporting as well as ultrasound and fluoroscopy commitments. These duties are subject to review from time to time in the light of the changing requirements of the service. There is an opportunity for a suitably trained and enthusiastic individual to develop the local ultrasound-guided interventional service or contribute to the paediatric PETCT service when introduced in 2023.
