Job summary

Are you an occupational therapist looking to build on your foundational competences ahead of a fascinating career in neuro Occupational Therapy? If so, you are warmly invited to apply to join the friendly, cohesive and supportive occupational therapy team at Sussex Rehabilitation Centre at the Princess Royal Hospital where due to a secondment we are able to offer a 9 month fixed term contract. Whilst the contract is only for 9 months, we do regularly have both Band 5 and Band 6 opportunities arising so there is a strong likelihood that within the 9 months a suitable substantive post might become available.

You would join a team of 10 OTs and an OT assistant and would be working very closely with the physiotherapists, psychologists, nursing staff and full MDT.

Sussex Rehabilitation Centre is a 39 bed regional neurological rehabilitation unit providing goal centred inpatient rehabilitation for patients age 16 and over who have sustained a stroke, acquired brain/spinal injury or have a new neuromedical conditions eg. Multiple sclerosis, Guillain-Barr syndrome or neuro oncology.

Beyond your clinical competences, you will be well-supported to develop core skills such as leadership, communication, MDT working, education, research and leadership within our AHP Preceptorship Programme, which facilitates and supports your career progression.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide occupational therapy interventions as part of an evidence based, flexible and patient-centred approach, working within a Multi Disciplinary team, to meet the health and social care needs of people who are referred to our services.

  • To perform an occupational therapy role for people referred to the post holder's clinical team with health and social care needs.

  • To provide supervision and support for relevant junior members of occupational therapy staff in conjunction with senior staff.

  • To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Occupational Therapy services within a designated team.

  • To support the supervision and training for students on practice placement.
