Job summary

We are currently looking to recruit a Full-time Band 3 Supervisor to join the Health Records Department based at St. Richard's Hospital in Chichester.

Health Records operates a 24 hour service across our 5 hospital sites; Haywards Heath, Brighton, Worthing, Shoreham-By-Sea and Chichester, and this is an exciting time to join the team as we move from paper to digital patient records.

We require an applicant who is highly organised and motivated, able to work under the pressure of deadlines, adaptable, quick to learn a variety of tasks and possess good communication skills.

Knowledge of computer systems, ability to work cross site and evidence of recent direct line management of staff is essential. Operational experience in a healthcare setting would be an advantage.

This can be a physical role involving the manual handling of case notes.

St. Richard's Health Records operational hours are 08.00 - 18.00 Monday to Friday and 09.00-17.00 weekends and bank holidays. The successful candidate willbe requiredto work office hours Monday to Friday with some flexibility expected, to be discussed at interview

Main duties of the job

The primary role of the Supervisor is to support the Operational Supervisor in producing an efficient, reliable and responsive 24-hour patient administration service, including case note management and storage, data collection and provision of information, admissions function, digitizing patient health records and archiving/storage of deceased patients' case notes.

The jobholder will assist in the day-to-day supervision of the team of clerks within this multi-sectioned Health Records Department, providing an efficient and effective service to clinical specialties in all aspects of patient administration.

  • Good general education including English & Maths GCSE or equivalent

Desirable

  • NVQ or equivalent experience Knowledge of Scanning Knowledge of local patient administration system

Knowledge,Training and Experience

Essential

  • Proven supervisory experience. Good HR knowledge required for direct line-management of staff.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a hospital setting and using hospital information systems & Policies. Ability to teach/train new staff.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written.
  • Ability to provide and receive complex and sensitive information. Ability to discuss sensitive HR issues with staff.
