Job summary
The junior clinical fellow post in neurology is a ward-based role, working alongside additional neurology junior doctors. The role encompasses caring for the neurology in-patients on our 15 bed ward and supporting activity on our neurology day case unit. The role also includes participation in the neurosciences out of hours on-call rota which covers neurosurgery and neurology.
The post will provide experience in the presentation and management of a wide spectrum of neurological conditions. There will be ample opportunity to develop practical procedure skills in lumbar punctures. The post holder will be encouraged to undertake an audit or wider quality improvement project. There are ample opportunities to also develop teaching and presentation skills.

Main duties of the job
Daily work will involve morning ward rounds to review all in-patients followed by ward-based work. Junior doctor teaching takes place during consultant ward rounds and also at designated times during the week.
Support of the day case unit will include reviewing patients attending for elective treatments such as IVIg, cyclophosphamide, MS infusions. Elective lumbar punctures are undertaken on a daily basis by the junior doctor team.
There are regular medical students allocated to spend time on the ward and the junior doctors are involved in supervising their clinical activity.
The post holder needs to be enthusiastic and keen to gain neurology experience
