Job summary

University hospitals Sussex are looking for enthusiastic and self motivated individuals to join our admin team to support our Sleep apnoea and respiratory nurses at Saint Richards hospital.

The post holder will play an important role within the Admin Team to provide efficient and comprehensive administrative support to clinicians and managers . You will work within a skilled mixed Admin Team in the Loxwood centre to support admin and clinical services and duties will include, data inputting, telephone queries, care records management, scanning, filing and typing etc.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced part time NHS administrator to provide support the respiratory nursing team. Candidates will work alongside an established and supportive team of administrators and clinicians and must have excellent organisational skills, be able to prioritise their workload and have excellent communication and customer care skills. Previous experience of a public facing administrative role, with reception duties essential and knowledge of the practices and processes within the NHS is advantageous for an efficient, reliable, and responsive patient administration service; including booking of clinics, clinic reception, daily administration tasks, stationary/sundry orders: typing and patient services using computer systems.

Communication

excellent communication skills to enable you to provide and receive information for patients, carers, relatives and colleagues effectively. At times, barriers to communication present where a patient may not easily understand because of cultural or language difficulties or physical/mental health needs.

Receive verbal complaints from patients/relatives/staff in a professional manner and, if able resolve or diffuse the situation

Liaise with other members of the MDT/external staff.

Liaise with medical representatives

organise meetings.

Attend meetings and take minutes as required.

Typing nurse clinic letters

Issue sundry equipment to OSA patients as required, ensure accurate recording of items

Greet all patients and carers presenting at the Respiratory centre in a friendly, professional and courteous timely manner

Answer phone effectively and make phone calls to patients etc, ensuring verbal messages are communicated accurately, respecting confidentiality at all times

Ensure timely and effective communication with the clinical staff and other staff members.

Ensure communication and information is accessible to all; such interpretation services

Support for communication needs which relate to an impairment, sensory loss, disability, and / or because the individual does not speak or read English

Ensure timely and effective communication with clinical and other staff members on all professional matters.

Liaise with all staff to ensure a smooth general administration service

Communicate effectively with telephone enquiries from patients, relatives, wards, GPs, practice nurses, Consultants, other health care providers and other professionals, taking appropriate action, recording messages clearly and with accuracy
