Job summary

An exciting opportunity to work within an expanding Endoscopy Unit at Worthing Hospital.

Worthing Endoscopy is part of the University Hospitals covering the South Coast.

The Endoscopy Unit offers a high level of training and development within the field.

The Unit is JAG accredited and has 5 Endoscopy Rooms.

Main duties of the job

  • Assisting with all aspects of patient care within Endoscopy.
  • Will be assigned to work in Recovery, Admission, and Working within the theatres once trained to the required level.
  • To provide a quality service to both inpatients and outpatients in an environment in which patients and staff are treated as individuals with dignity and respect.
  • To assist with the most effective use of resources and manpower within the departments and to participate in the planning and development of the future service in accordance with the Trust'spolicies and procedures.

Job responsibilities

  • Assisting with all aspects of patient care within Endoscopy.

  • Bronchoscop, ERC, Colonoscop, Gastroscop - These are the main procedures within the unit, training on theses areas are provided within the Unit.
  • Assist in the maneuvering and positioning of patients and equipment in the theatre Rooms and Recovery.
  • Ensure patients safety, comfort, privacy and dignity is observed at all times.
  • Demonstrate good understanding of the Endoscopy procedure and the consent process. Ensure that a valid consent is obtained prior to any Endoscopy Procedures.
  • Identify patients individual dependency care needs and provide support for physical, psychological, and social requirements.
  • Provide patients emergency care in all areas of the Endoscopy department.
  • Ensure that any safeguarding issues are raised appropriately to lead Nurses to enable investigation in relation to vulnerable adults or children.
  • To maintain clear documentation regarding patients treatments, care and future plans of care
