Weare looking forBand 5 Registered Nurses with a keen interest in surgery to welcome into our team on the Vascular Ward (Level 8 Tower) at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton. This post would be appropriate for both experienced or a newly qualified band 5 nurse. There is a comprehensive induction program for new starters and we have a ward based clinical educator.We are the Regional Vascular Centre serving patients across Sussex, with close links to the other hospitals within the county. The vascular ward has 37 beds. The position involves working some weekends and night shifts on a rotational basis.

The nursing team are amidst the most experienced in wound care management and pain control.. You will be looking after patients having a variety of major vascular operations including aneurysm repairs, bypass surgery and amputations. This role also includes the management of complex wounds.

Main duties of the job

  • To function within a team providing the highest of nursing care to complex surgical patients by assisting with personal care, administration of medications and organising own day to day work tasks with support from senior members of the team to achieve best clinical and professional practice.
  • Deliver patient- centred nursing care on the ward aiming to achieve the highest possible standards of care delivery, in accordance with the Trust's Strategy for Nursing and Midwifery.
  • Responsible for assessment, planning and implementation of care and assists in the interpretation of data relevant to the patient's condition and progress with the support of the Multi-Disciplinary team.
