Job summary

Are you a Health Care Assistant working within the NHS?

We have an exciting opportunity for highly motivated, hardworking, patient centered individuals to work within Pyecombe Ward as band 3.

You will be putting your years of experience as well as your high level of knowledge and skill to use helping to provide high level care to our service users.

Main duties of the job

  • Welcome patients and visitors to the ward/department.
  • Provide/receive complicated and sensitive information relating to patient care (eg. from colleagues, patients, carers and relatives), communicating clearly, concisely and accurately and escalating enquiries where appropriate.
  • Communicate at all times with tact and empathy, and interact appropriately with patients and relatives/carers where barriers to communication may exist (eg. challenging behaviour, varying levels of ability, where English is not the first language).
  • Participate effectively in multidisciplinary case conferences, as required

At all times, maintain patient dignity, privacy and confidentiality. Assess (through basic observations) patient health, safety & wellbeing before and while undertaking any activity or intervention, and respond accordingly. Provide concise, legible and accurate data and records of own work (handwritten and input to computer systems, eg. Electronic Patient Record).

Essential

  • 2+ years healthcare assistant experience
  • Level 2 Diploma in Clinical Healthcare Support, Health & Social Care or relevant equivalent qualification (eg. Care Certificate or NVQ Level 2)
  • Comprehensive experience of working within an acute setting

Desirable

  • Acute medical ward healthcare assistant experience
  • Level 3 Diploma in Clinical healthcare Support, Health & Social Care or relevant equivalent qualification (eg. Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3)
  • Experience of teaching/training, and qualification/training in mentoring and assessment.
