Job summary

Due to a change in our establishment we are recruiting 3 permanent band 6s to join Beacon Ward.

Beacon ward is a busy 38 bedded Diabetes, endocrine and Vascular ward. We work closely with Brighton Hospital, TVN and Vascular specialist nurses as well as the close MDT. There are 2 consultants, 2 ward managers and 5 deputy sisters / charge nurse who help maintain high standards of care to our patients and support to our junior members of the team. As the Deputy Ward Sister/Charge Nurse you will managing the ward on a daily basis and contributing to staff performance and appraisal.

We are passionate about continuously improving patient care, quality improvements and supporting staff with their development and training. We work closely with practice development and encourage new ideas to enhance patient experience as well as staff's health and wellbeing.

Please note that this position will involve working nights and weekends.

Main duties of the job

  • To support the Ward Managers in the effective management of the area. In addition the post holder will provide nursing leadership within this area, ensuring an effective quality nursing service, with responsibility for standards of nursing care and patient safety in conjunction with the ward sister.
  • To manage an appropriate patient workload across the service, providing expert support and advice, in conjunction with the ward sister.
  • Assisting developing the teams and ensuring a seamless service for patients.
