Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior operating department/ anaesthetic nurse role within our Neurosurgery specialty at Royal Sussex County Hospital. Neuro Theatres is a busy specialty undertaking complex Cranial and Spinal surgeries.

We are looking for dynamic experienced band 5's who want an opportunity to up skill their knowledge and experience with in a well led team, if this is you then please apply!

Neuro-surgery is based at the newly openedLouisa Martindale building at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, and has strong links to community wide Neurosciences programmes. As part of our integrated facilities within the Poly-trauma service, we have an Operating Theatre Suite comprising of 3 Theatres, Integrated Anaesthetic facilities, a Recovery Unit and Bi-planar/Angio suite.

The successful candidates will be required to work an internal rotation shift pattern to provide 24/7 cover for the service at Brighton and you will be expected to participate in the on-call rota to meet the needs of the service.

Main duties of the job

o To provide clinical leadership, support and teaching to all relevant personnel within the specialist area.o To provide specialist technical and clinical advice to relevant colleagues in Neurosurgery peri-operative setting.o To provide information and support to patients having anaesthesia / surgery.o To provide and assist with the development of safe and high quality specialist patient care and to work within the guidelines of the Trust Nursing and Midwifery Strategy.

A Neuro Theatre experience is desirable for this role.
