Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior nurse to undertake a fixed-term/secondment role for maternity cover for 12 months at St Richard's (Chichester), Worthing and Southlands (Shoreham) Hospitals as Gynaecology Matron.
The successful candidate will be a passionate and motivated experienced nurse who is instrumental in promoting high standards of clinical care, patient experience, patient safety and quality improvement. This is a particularly exciting time for Gynaecology at the Trust with service developments and innovations at the heart of our agenda.
You will need to have excellent communication skills, experience in governance, quality improvement and negotiation skills.
As Matron you will be responsible for the professional and clinical leadership of all the nursing staff, ensuring high quality standards of care are delivered, to ensure patient safety and a positive patient experience. The role involves being able to be extremely flexible with an ability to adapt to change quickly; both in supporting the nursing teams clinically but with the day-to-day operational running of Gynaecology services to ensure patient flow through the Trust. You will be expected to work clinically within the Department as required to support and be a visible and credible presence.
Main duties of the job
The Gynaecology Matron will be a highly visible, accessible and authoritative presence in clinical areas to which patients, their families and others can turn for leadership, assistance, advice and support. The post holder will be part of the Divisional Nursing Leadership team with specific responsibility for a designated area/groups of departments.
The Matron's role will focus on:

The Gynaecology Matron will work across the St Richard's, Worthing and Southlands sites to ensure the smooth running of the Gynaecology Outpatients Department (St Richard's), Gynaecology Day and Ambulatory Units (Worthing) and services and at Southlands. The Matron will play a key role in the ongoing innovation and development of Gynaecology services across the sites and within the Women and Children's strategy across the whole Trust working closely with Divisional Leaders and the Gynaecology Matron on the Princess Royal and Royal Sussex County Sites.
