Job summary

Do you wish to work in a new facility where you will have the opportunity to enhance your specialist skills? If so, the Sussex Orthopedic Treatment Centre is a purpose built elective orthopedic centre, which opened in 2006 and is now part of the University Sussex Hospital Trust. We carry out approximately 6,500 procedures per year and undertake both minor, intermediate and complex orthopedic work.

We are currently looking for enthusiastic Band 2 Theatre Health Care Assistants to join our friendly, forward thinking team.

Main duties of the job

  • Assists other theatre staff with the individual care needs within the clinical area.
  • Assists other theatre staff with the implementation and evaluation of planned care.
  • After appropriate training and assessment undertake a range of basic observations and personal care detailed in individual skills inventory, under the supervision and direction of the supervising theatre staff.
  • Records basic observations and reports those observations to the supervising theatre staff.
  • Works as part of the theatre department nursing team to undertake peri-operative care and support for patients in hospital.
  • Reports patient's condition to qualified nursing staff.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for the patient

The post holder will complete an orientation period to the clinical area in accordance with the Trust's induction program. You will also be supported in your ongoing professional development.
