Cancer UGI Clinical Nurse Specialists

Job summary

We are passionate about developing and improving the UGI cancer services at UH Sussex Hospitals NHS Fundation Trust

We are fortunate to have been given funding for 2 years from the Surrey and Sussex Cancer Alliance to develop our CNS services and promote collaborative working beween hospital sites and partner organisations to provide seamless, high quality care.

ThIs postholder will be line managed by the Cancer Matron based at Brighton but will work at both The Royal Sussex and Worthing Hospitals.

They will be instrumental in reviewing and improving communication and pathways between the multidisciplinary teams invovled in the patient's care and management - invovlement in service improvement projects is required

Previous experience running nurse led clinic would be advantageous

We are happy to invite applicants who may want part time / job share positions and those who would be suitable for a band 6 development post

Main duties of the job

Providing information, support and advice for patients and their familes/friends on the UGI cancer pathway

Work effectively and collaboratively with the UGI CNSs across UHSx and with our partner organsiations

Be a support and mentor to junior staff members

To be an integral member of the UGI MDTs at UHSx NHS Trust

To actively lead on and contribute to service development - including developing appropriate KPIs that are measurable which demosntrate service improvement
