Job summary

An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join the paediatric physiotherapy team at the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital in Brighton. This will be a specialist post working within the Outpatient team providing MSK services to children from birth to 16 years old. We provide a number of Specialist services including clubfoot and DDH clinics. We are looking for an experienced Paediatric Physiotherapist to join our friendly team here in Sussex.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide shared day to day operational management of the Paediatric Physiotherapy team based at Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital in planning, co-coordinating, delivering and evaluating the Paediatric Physiotherapy Service on a day-to-day basis in MSK outpatients.
  • To deputise for the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist if required.
  • Provide shared leadership to the Physiotherapy team within a team based structure as a specialist within the field of MSK paediatric physiotherapy and orthopaedics.
  • As an autonomous practitioner to carry out advanced assessment and treatment of a specialist caseload of patients within Paediatrics who may have complex and/or chronic presentation, and to determine clinical diagnoses and physiotherapy treatment indicated, and to maintain records.
  • To provide specialist advice to other professionals both within the Trust and outside agencies e.g. GPs, carers.
  • To be responsible for teaching, supervision and appraisal of Senior and Junior Physiotherapists, technical instructors and undergraduate students to ensure a high quality of clinical care within the speciality.
  • To work as part of the clubfoot clinic providing specialist knowledge and advanced treatment techniques to a complex caseload of patients using the Ponseti method.
  • To work as part of the DDH clinic providing specialist knowledge, treatment and assessment using the Graff method.
  • To be part of the weekend on call service as required
