Job summary
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Lead Radiology Nurse/Sister/Charge Nurse to lead a dedicated team at Worthing & Southlands Hospitals which is part of the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.
Worthing & Southlands Radiology Nurses take responsibility for the clinical nursing care of patients attending the radiology department. We provide a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic image guided services that require hands on nursing care from our team. Radiology Nurses are also play a pivotal part in Interventional Radiology or IR, which is a form of image guided surgery that uses imaging techniques to guide equipment to parts of the body that surgeons couldn't normally reach without an open operation.
Main duties of the job
The Radiology Lead Nurse's key role is to act as a role model and ensure effective staff supervision with clinical practice, working with staff and patients in an advisory, teaching and support capacity and maintaining professional competence, authority and credibility.
They also must be able to work collaboratively with clinical experts including Radiology Consultants, Nursing staff and Clinical Teams in the development of expert, personal centred practice.
To ensure we continue to remain effective and efficient, the Radiology Lead Nurse will help to develop protocols and guidelines and work closely with our appointment teams to ensure the smooth operational running of the interventional radiology (IR) department.
