Job summary
The Training and Development Officer for Facilities & Estates will play an important role within the division, assisting with all aspects of the training function including the ongoing long-term improvement of employees' skills, enabling them to fulfil their potential within the Trust; assessing skills and knowledge within the division and determining what training is needed to grow and retain these skills.
The post holder will be instrumental in supporting managers and staff with mandatory, statutory, and developmental training/development. The post holder will promote and support Apprenticeships within F&E division - both direct-entry (recruited) and skilled (existing staff). They will also support divisional recruitment initiatives and staff engagement activities.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will join the T&D team who support F&E staff across 5 hospital sites. The post-holder will be expected to line manage a small number of staff and will require excellent communication and relationship building skills to attain buy-in to new approaches and development initiatives with managers and colleagues not directly managed. To have excellent organisation, co-ordination skills. The post holder will develop and maintain constructive working relationships with several key internal and external stakeholders.

- Communicate effectively with all divisional managers and staff, always adopting an open and inclusive style and positive attitude.
- Support tutors delivering and facilitating divisional training sessions where necessary.
- Conduct personal development discussions with members of staff, providing quality advice and signposting as necessary.

Knowledge, Training and Experience
- Previous experience within a training role is essential, preferably supporting Apprenticeships and implementing bespoke training programmes.
- A wide knowledge of training options (from Apprenticeships to short courses, functional skills and food hygiene).
- Creativity to contribute towards planning of bespoke training options.
- Strong MS Excel skills will be key to maintaining records and monitoring progress.
- Experience working within the NHS is desirable.
Analytical and Judgemental
- Using relevant and appropriate workforce information to ensure the statutory and mandatory training cycle is fulfilled; assisting departments who encounter specific challenges.
- Using data, often sensitive or personal, collated from the annual appraisal and personal development planning process; identify learning needs and building development plans for teams and individuals.
- Contribute to monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of training and development programmes in a constant cycle of review / revision / implementation.
- Monitor and review progress of trainees through meetings, surveys or feedback discussions with managers.
- Using training data and staff survey results to determine where improvements have been achieved or require further interventions.
- Assist with divisional training needs analysis and training outcome / effectiveness reports which may be required for reporting to divisional Directors.

- Adopt robust follow-up systems to ensure involvement with training plans and that managers and staff are fully informed so that training takes place as planned.
