Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Sexual Health Information & data team. The post holder will work with the Clinical Information and Systems Manager to maintain data entry processes in the Sexual Health Service ensuring that all data entry is complete to a high level of accuracy and in a timely fashion. Join our team to play a pivotal role in maintaining data accuracy and quality within the Sexual Health Service.
Main duties of the job
- Data Integrity: Utilise SQL reports to detect and rectify data errors, duplicates, and inconsistencies. Collaborate with the Data Quality and System Support Officer to correct inaccurate or incomplete records created by others.
- Feedback and Training: Provide feedback to local teams regarding data omissions and errors, and offer training support to reduce future occurrences.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for enhancing data quality processes and suggest improvements to existing tools, systems, or workflows.
- EPR Maintenance: Conduct daily surveys of the appointment diary to uphold accuracy and consistency in the electronic patient record system, including attendance types, open appointments, and demographics.

Key Working Relationships
The post holder is a member of the multi-disciplinary team. This includes nursing, medical, health advising, administration and management staff. The service is part of the Women and Children Division.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Communication
- Provides and receives information on IM&T matters which may be complicated and sensitive; provides training in own area of expertise.
- Escalates complex data enquiries or requests to the Clinical Information Manager Sexual Health/Data Quality & System Support Officer utilising ToDo task lists
Service Delivery and Improvement
- Acts as first point of contact for users requiring help with basic technical problems such as printer issues and issues related to computer systems, Lilie password resets and subject access requests.
- Investigates enquiries and queries from staff and provides assistance and advice as required.
- Utilises SQL reports to request information from database, identifying and rectifying omissions and data errors, duplicates, and inconsistencies. Works with the support of the Data Quality & System Support Officer to update or correct inaccurate or incomplete data records.
- Carries out regular EPR housekeeping, including daily surveying of appointment diary to maintain accuracy and consistency across the system (correct attendance types, open appointments, demographics)
- Responsible for organising own workload daily, ensuring all priority work is progressed against conflicting demands or escalated quickly and efficiently.
- Analyses situations / information to identify and resolve a range of problems e.g. ICE related issues, undertaking a data cleansing role or comparing data from different sources to ensure quality, consistency and accuracy. Refers complex issues onto Data quality Support Officer or Data Systems Manager.
- Identifies opportunities for improving data quality processes and suggests enhancements to existing tools, systems, or workflows
- Follows departmental policies within own work area, proposing changes to working practices as a result of new guidelines or legislation to ensure compliance with Data Protection.
- Occasionally participates in equipment and new systems testing
People Management and Development
- Provides training and demonstrates data entry and correct coding methods and the safe use of computer equipment to clinical and admin staff working within sexual Health, providing ongoing support and advice when required.
- Feeds back to local teams any trends of data omissions and errors and offers further training support to reduce future impact.
