Job summary
An incredible opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, committed and experienced person to join our team as head of quality and safety for the Women's and Children's Division here at University Hospitals Sussex.
We are only of the largest NHS Trusts in the UK, just over 2 years following a merger. This provides an exciting opportunity for shared learning and development of the services within our Division.
You will be an exceptional individual with vision and drive, passion and intellect as well as a broad range of strategic and professional skills. You must be fully committed to patient safety and be able to demonstrate a high level of organisational, analytical and leadership skills. The successful candidate must also have excellent communication skills, emotional intelligence and be a team player. Liaison with the divisional leadership team, service team, the consultant body and wider MDT will be a key element of the role. As a visible and credible leader you will provide highly specialist expert advice on all aspects of quality and safety across the services within our Division.
The aim of the post holder is to be a role model, sharing good practice, embedding learning and leading quality and safety improvements. He/she will empower clinical teams to promote safety improvements throughout the service.
Main duties of the job
To ensure that patient safety is proactively managed across the Division. To link CQC compliance, risks, and incidents and proactively work with services to focus on compliance, assurance and patient safety solutions.
A Division-wide role promoting, influencing, and implementing patient safety incident management throughout the Division working with and developing relationships with service clinical governance teams regarding patient safety issues. Sharing best practice and ensuring organisation-wide learning from patient safety incidents.
The Women, Children and Sexual Health Division is one of only 2 Divisions that are Trust wide across all 5 sites, meaning it is a highly complex and diverse Divisional portfolio to manage.
Maternity services nationally and locally are under intense scrutiny. The post holder will be of significant seniority and possess relevant experience to navigate the highly complex requirements of maternity governance processes.
